Lovion PROJECT

Managing Construction Projects

Overview

The central component for managing the planning and construction process is Lovion PROJECT. All measures ranging from planning and coordination to construction are managed in the so-called digital construction file. It contains all relevant structural data on different project levels and in various utility sectors. The project status, time management as well as planned and actual costs are always transparently documented.

Construction Management

A key feature and core component of Lovion PROJECT is the customizable status model. Status classifications support the organisational process of managing construction measures. The status model also ensures data quality and completeness by implementing configurable validations or triggering follow-up measures such as tasks. Milestones can also be integrated into the status model. These can be created or configured individually by the customer.

Time Management

Even at the start of a project idea, it makes sense to plan and document deadlines for a construction project. The Lovion system has forecasting capabilities based on planned deadlines in conjunction with planned costs and automatically reacts when deadlines change. Furthermore, the system automatically records time stamps in conjunction with the status model. This makes it easier to use. Time management is also supported by Lovion logbook, which automatically logs selected events in a separate window or enables manual logbook entries using a catalog.

Project Structure

Structural data in a construction activity is represented hierarchically at the project level, the sector level, and at the sub-project level. Sub-projects depict actual activities in a construction measure and can refer to plants, grids or grid connections, depending on the sector/grid/budget type. Sub-projects usually have a clear business reference, meaning that they are linked to the ERP system, for example, to display costs, the status of orders or references to technical objects.

Coordination

In addition to the comprehensive and transparent documentation, Lovion PROJECT also focuses on interactions between various stakeholders. On the one hand, all directly involved persons are depicted in Lovion PROJECT via roles and affiliations, e.g. their companies and departments. All personal data is managed and maintained in Lovion RELATIONS and updated on a daily basis. Furthermore, internal and external coordination processes based on Lovion FLOAT can be integrated into construction measures (circulation process for building permits, public stakeholders). In the process, roles including third party roles are automatically transferred within Lovion.

Logbook / Daily Planner

Log entries including time, date and user are automatically created using specific rules. These rules and conditions can be configured individually. Examples include status updates, changes in key dates, costs or other milestones. Log entries can also be created manually using a catalog. Furthermore, it is also possible to attach documents and jump to file directories.

Interaction with other Modules

Lovion PROJECT can be integrated into many other modules. An essential component in planning and construction is the module for construction drawings stored Lovion DESIGN. This module can be supplemented by budgeting functions available in Lovion COSTING. By using the correct configuration, it is even possible to create graphic construction drwawings directly linked to cost calculations. If required, Lovion FLOAT also supports internal and external circulation procedures (building permits, public stakeholders). Finally, Lovion INVEST supports budget planning and monitoring for each fiscal year in construction projects.

SAP Integration

For further process optimizations, Lovion ERP CONNECT can be used as an interface to a customer’s ERP system. The most common connection points are orders and accounts as well as technical object structures. In the SAP environment, these modules are, for example, PM, SD, MM, PS or HR. The technical implementation with Lovion ERP CONNECT is usually managed via standard BAPIs in a separate namespace within SAP. For the construction process, the focus lies on data concerning costs, creating material reservations or supporting time bookings.

Task-based Project Management

In order to support a task-based workflow, project-related (mobile) tasks such as planning activities, site inspections, asset installations and surveying can be created and tracked from within Lovion PROJECT. Especially the often time-critical availability of internal resources (planners, technicians) can be planned and managed at the early stage of the project. This also applies to external resources. For this purpose, The well-known products Lovion WORK/TASK and Lovion DISPATCH are integrated into the solution.

Assigning Measures

In Lovion PROJECT, operational assets, damages and outages, as well as equipment from grid assessments can be directly linked to a construction project or sub-project. This ensures transparent decision-making within measures. Linked objects are directly available to users including all master and dynamic data. Their geographic information, such as pipeline routes or locations, support the planning process through spatial information. As a result, it is possible to dervice dependencies and synergy potentials between involved departments.
