ASSET GAS

Documenting Gas Plants and Assets

Overview

A complete digital documentation of all relevant assets in a utility company’s gas grid is the foundation for successfully operating a gas grid. The Lovion system can integrate assets that have already been documented in other systems. However, as gas plants are usually not fully depicted in other systems, the Lovion ASSET GAS module offers functionalities to completey depict gas plants in their entirety and depth.

GIS Integration

Gas grids are documented based on their location in a geographic informtaion system. Thus, the Lovion system offers the Lovion CONNECT SUITE interface for widely-spread GIS which provides the data foundation for carrying out technical business processes of a utility company’s gas grid. In the process, it is also possible to add relevant data that is not documented in GIS.

Plant Documentation

Especially when it comes to plant maintenance and service work, a GIS usually does not cover these types of processes in their required depth. The product Lovion ASSET GAS complements plant documentation with these missing features and offers a detailed data model for documenting all relevant assets in a gas plant, for example:

  • Pressure-reducing stations
  • Controller stations
  • Compressor stations
  • Gas metering stations
  • Grid connections and components
  • Equipment for corrosion protection

Assets including their Function Groupings

All relevant gas plant data and technical information is documented in Lovion ASSET GAS according to the rules and regulations of the DVGW (German: Deutscher Verein des Gas- und Wasserfaches e.V. – Technisch-wissenschaftlicher Verein). This also applies to individual components and asset groupings. By implementing compulsory data fields and validation rules, a high quality of gas plant documentation is realized. In addition, data relevant for maintenance and service work can also be managed here. The plant hierarchy including its asset groupings and individual components can be depicted realistically.

Warehouse

Lovion ASSET GAS includes functions to move individual components into or out of a warehouse and to install or decommission the component in the plant. Simultaneously, this function documents the reason and the date of the installation or removal. Furthermore, additional information concerning the installation or removal can be documented in a separate data field for general remarks.

Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (PID)

In Lovion ASSET GAS, each gas plant can be depicted graphically as a piping and instrumentation diagram (PID). This is done by importing DXF or DWG files or by directly creating piping and instrumentation diagrams in Lovion using data editing tools. A standardised ASSET GAS library with symbols is available to create these digital diagrams and to edit attribute data.

Secondary Equipment

When connecting Lovion ASSET GAS with the module Lovion ASSET SECONDARY, additional secondary equipment can be documented as well. This includes remote controlled devices such as network components, notification systems, switch safety components, timing devices, SCADA or SPS systems and power source components for these systems, for example
converters, batteries or air compressors.

If numerous Lovion ASSET datamodels are used in parallel, the datamodel for secondary equipment is used for all utility divisions. As a result, these assets are managed uniformly for the whole company and can be maintained and serviced using the same protocols.

3D Laser Scan / BIM

Supplementary to photos, construction drawings and other documents, 3D laser scans can also be linked to the module Lovion ASSET GAS to visualize gas plants three-dimensionally. This supports maintenance and service work and shows technicians a spatial overview of the plant instead of just attribute data. The high level of detail of 3D laser scans also makes it possible to derive further information about a plant’s condition. If customers already use BIM data, it is possible to expand the datamodel in order to incorporate this data into the ASSET GAS solution.

DVGW Document File Structure

Linked documents are saved in a file structure that is in line with the rules and regulations of the DVGW Gas Nr. 15 handbook. This file structure allows users to save documents in files specified for plant descriptions, manufacturer certificates, permits and inspection certificates, piping and instrumentation diagrams, list of components, proof and verification of pipe and pipe fitting strength and rigidity, list of pipes and permits, certificates of pipe fittings, other certificates, component descriptions and other documents. Furthermore, this database document management system offers a keyword search within document titles as well as in document metadata.

Maintenance and Service Protocols

For carrying out maintenance and service work, Lovion ASSET GAS delivers complete task types that are based on DVGW rules and regulations concerning maintenance work, inspections as well as visual inspections, special inspections and automated optical inspections (AOI). These task types include integrated protocols and checklists and are available, for example, for the following assets:

  • Pressure regulator stations based on G 495
  • Odorizers G 280
  • Pipeline sections according to G 465-1, G 466-1, G 414
  • Grid connections according to G 465-1, G 459-2, G 600 (TRGI)
  • Exhausts according to G 465-1, G 280
  • Valves according to G 441, G 465-1
  • Condensate collector according to G 465-1, G 280
  • Natural gas filling station according to G 651, G 656, BetrSichV, TRBS 1201
