Lovion TREE

Tree Evaluations based on GW 125 Rules and Regulations

Overview

DVGW rules and regulations GW 125 (M) advise utility companies and grid operators to document all trees located within a radius of 2.5 m of a utility pipeline as they pose a potential risk to this infrastructure. The space between tree and pipeline is extremely significant. Certain trees even require a distance of 5 m as they pose an even higher risk.

Risk Assessment

In Lovion TREE, data concerning tree types, age, diameter, root system, canopy and structure are documented. This information is combined with pipeline data such as their material, diameter, mantle and age. As a result, risk assessments can be carried out using these fundamental parameters. Tree evaluators can compare this data with the tree’s actual location on site and are able to classify potential risks. Furthermore, safety recommendations can be managed for each type of tree location.

Risk Classifications

By defining different risk categories, it is possible to visualise danger zones and potential pipeline risks in an overview window. Topographic and pipeline-specific data can be evaluated directly in Lovion where the results of close-lying pipelines are displayed in various colours based on their risk classification.

Competent Development Partner

The product Lovion TREE was developed in close collaboration with ArborPLan, a specialist with more than 20 years of experience in assessing tree-related dangers in the utility sector. If a utility company’s personnel is not available for tree evaluations, this service can also be provided by ArborPlan.
