Integrating Map Services

Introduction

Lovion offers a wide range of standard modules to safely and flexibly provide access to mapping services via the intranet and internet. Some advantages of these mapping services are that maps are not stored and updated in Lovion’s local IT infrastructure, but rather in a decentralised location whilst making map theme layers efficiently available to Lovion users.

Lovion WMS CONNECT

A WMS server can be accessed from Lovion via the intranet or internet by implementing the module Lovion WMS CONNECT. WMS Servers provide map data in a standardised raster format. These raster maps are displayed in a separate theme layer in Lovion. Thus, Lovion WMS CONNECT is a suitable module to display general background maps, specific geographic data, such as satellite and aerial images as well as thematic maps by third-party mapping services. Furthermore, they complement current Lovion maps with additional information.

Lovion GOOGLE CONNECT

Google Maps is a worldwide and well-established online map service. Roads, satellite and topographic data as well as various other information is readily available in this map service. Thus, Lovion offers an online Google Maps integration with the following features:

  • MAP: Roads, satellite and topographic maps are depicted as background layers
  • ELEVATION: Elevation models are displayed in a separate Lovion window
  • STREETVIEW: A street view is available in a separate Lovion window
  • SEARCH: Google searches are available in Lovion including features such as the autocomplete function whilst typing and an interactive list of results

Google Maps data must be licenced for commercial use. If requested, an OEM licence for using Google Data in conjunction with Lovion GOOGLE CONNECT can be provided.

Lovion OSM CONNECT

OpenStreetMap.org is an international project founded in 2004 with the aim of creating a freely available world map. Data of road networks, train tracks, rivers and many other features is collected worldwide and made available free of charge. This data can be imported into Lovion by implementing Lovion OSM CONNECT.

This solution provides more than an interface and offers the following integration options:

  • Visualising OSM data as a background layer in Lovion
  • OSM data including attribute and vector data with roads, buildings as well as a navigation function can be integrated into Lovion
  • Quick searches within OSM data are possible within the Lovion map.

Once the data is synchronised in Lovion, it can also be used offline.

Lovion CYCLO CONNECT

3D images in the form of 360° panorama photos support grid and plant operators in various technical processes, for example in maintenance work, outage management and planning. CycloMedia is a leading company when it comes to large areal and systematic visualisations of environments based on 360° panorama photos (Cycloramas). By implementing Lovion CYCLO CONNECT, it is possible to integrate online Cycloramas in Lovion. With the help of CYCLORAMA VIEWERS, a separate window appears in the map and provides 3D visualisations including navigation functions. By selecting an object in the map, the CYCLORAMA visualisation directly jumps to that location. CycloMedia data must be licenced. This licence can be purchased separately when implementing Lovion CYCLO CONNECT.
